Sometimes conflicts really are irreconcilable -- no matter what kind of help is obtained.

Values conflicts, for instance, are often this way, as are conflicts involving personal identity.

For example, conflicts over...

  • Abortion,
  • Gay rights,
  • Religious beliefs, and
  • Gender roles.

Values conflicts can be very difficult, or even impossible, to resolve.

But that doesn't mean one has to constantly fight about them.

Instead, you can work out settlements to the things that have to be worked out, and let the other things go.
